For many years, watercolors and oil paints have been used to create beautiful peices of artwork that now hang in the halls of world renowned museums and art galleries. Dating back to the 15th century, oil has been used by artists to create real or surreal images for a very accepting audience. The Renaissance brought watercolors into light as a new medium for artists to work with. Since these two mediums have such a history, acrylic paints have often fought to be recognized for their distinct characteristics. Capable of the wildest range of approaches for any artist and enables creativity, new ideas, and progression.

Renowned artist and counterculture phenomenon Andy Warhol utilized the unique aspects of acrylic paints in all of his canvas pieces. His stylish and unique works are now famous for their brilliant colors and odd designs. Since Warhol's time, a huge number of acrylic artists have risen, producing canvas artwork to take advantage of this versatile medium. Canvas art has been elevated to new levels because acrylic paints have attracted a wider audience. Acrylic paints dry faster, enabling aspiring artists to produce more artwork and create a business around their talents. Exhibitions for acrylic canvas art have been held in prestigious venues such as the Westminister Gallery and the Durham Art Gallery. These galleries exhibit only acrylic artwork so that the public can appreciate these contributions.

Rising population levels have increased housing options, yet reduced the quality of apartments, condominiums, and homes. Canvas art is often brought in to these barren homes to accentuate stark white walls, empty rooms, and boring paint color schemes. Acrylic art allows both the artist and purchaser to express themselves and add splashes of color and style to any home. Clean lines and minimal aesthetics are the key factors with many of the modern canvas art works.

Adding flair to any room is easy. The most difficult aspect of artwork is finding the perfect peice for you. If a custom art peice is not realistic for your budget, there are millions of acrylic art canvases that will fit your personality and style.
